Supply Lists

All of our Primary to Grade 2 classes will be charging the $35 fee to cover supplies in September.  Grade 3 and 4 class supply lists will not be posted until mid August due to potential changes made at last minute to class sizes and homeroom assignments.  Grade 4 Late French Immersion Supply list is attached.

BES Message July 22 2020

Today the government announced 3 scenarios regarding the return to school in September. Please see the following link for the government plan (https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/education/) As of now we will be moving forward in planning and hope to finalize class lists and class supply list in the next week. We ask for your patience as we move forward. A text message at the beginning of August letting families know supply lists have been posted on the BES website. Most BES Teachers do a $35 supply fee, which can be paid in September and will cover all the supplies for your child for the school year. The only thing we ask you to supply in this situation is indoor sneakers, lunch bag and book bag. I know many parents and guardians are eager to know which teacher will be teaching their child next year, but this will be delayed until at least August. We apologize but we do not want to have to make changes later and have unhappy children. I will communicate with you through text when BES teachers will be given the go ahead to contact the families of their students. I know we will have many changes come September but what I can tell you is that I have complete faith in my staff to give 110% and they will be focused on student health, safety and well-being. I feel very lucky to have such a great team! I want to add that I also appreciate how supportive our community has been over the past year and how proud I am to be the Principal at BES. I promise to continue to be in touch and please reach out by email if you have any questions. besprincipal@ssrce.ca. Please make sure to chat with your child about the positives of returning to school, as you as a parent will have a huge part in their successful transition. Our children are mirrors of us, even when we think they are not looking or listening. Start with some little things, like wearing masks, packing lunches in lunch boxes when you go to the beach or park, call a walk with the dog Physical Education class, write a letter about their excitement and concerns to Ms. Willow! I know we've got this handled as a community and I will be so excited to see the students in September even with a mask on! I will have to come up with some cool dance moves we can do instead of hugs! Ms. Willow

BES Notice April 7th 2020

Hello to all our BES Families,

By now you should have heard from your child's classroom teacher. They will be reaching out by Thursday morning at the latest by email with their online learning for April 8th and 9th. We have centralized everything at the following website http://besdistancelearning.weebly.com/ so please bookmark it on your computer. This site also includes tons of ideas around well-being, and an optional music assignment from Ms. Miller. We have also included links to many free resources that we think are great. There is also a blog we will update with any supports we find out about within the community or items we think are valuable in sharing. We are excited and nervous about beginning this new journey, so we ask for your patience and kindness. We promise we are going to do our best to make this work for you in the home with whatever you have, even if that is simply paper and pencil. We also want to celebrate things you are doing with at home learning, so if you want to email me a picture at besprincipal@ssrce.ca please do and I will post and compile pictures to our Facebook page. It can even be pictures about playing outside or a card game, or pictures about life skills such as washing dishes or the laundry. This is all great learning for our students.

On the website, you will also find the Flyer Learning Package distributed through Saltwire. It is important to note that this is for families with no internet access or who wish to do offline learning. You do not do both the flyer learning and the teacher driven learning online. However, if you want to pull additional things from the flyer feel free. It is important though to not overwhelm your learners, so they are excited about learning for all the days to come.

If you currently do not receive flyers, which is how the home offline learning packets will be delivered, you can sign up by contacting SaltWire (Chronicle Herald) at:
Please continue to reach our to your child's teachers or administration if you need help in anyway.

Ms. Willow

Always the Proud Principal of BES
